About the Role
Safaricom is looking for a passionate and driven Software Engineer Intern to join our Technology division. You will work alongside senior engineers building and maintaining internal tools, APIs, and customer-facing features that serve millions of Kenyans every day.
As an intern, you will participate in sprint planning, daily standups, and code reviews. You'll gain hands-on experience with real production systems, contributing to features that impact M-PESA, Safaricom App, and enterprise platforms.
This is a structured internship programme lasting 3–6 months with mentorship from experienced engineers. High-performing interns are considered for full-time roles upon completion.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of at least one programming language (Python, JavaScript, Java, or Go).
- Familiarity with REST APIs, Git version control, and basic SQL.
- Good problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
